Pathway to the Sea

Our film is about Māori relationships to the sea. The film showcases what these coastal connections look like and the responsibilities Māori take for protecting or looking after their coastal homelands.

All Indigenous communities are unique- Māori relationships to the sea are enacted differently from community-to-community. This film features coastal connections and stories from four North Island Māori communities that demonstrate their very different ecological, physical, social, and political contexts and different connections to the sea.
